Mourisca, Portugal

Sometimes we travel hundreds and even thousands of kilometres to have a stunning view for landscapes photos. We often forget that the best scenery can be just at your door step, which was my case.

After moving out of Portugal, I found out this amazing place which was literally a 15 minute drive from my place.

In the district of Setúbal, Portugal, this place called Mourisca is located in the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, where saltworks replaced the area that was previously used for rice fields.

When I went back home on holidays, one day I woke up at 5:30 (a sin during holidays but always for a good cause) and drove down the road to wait for the sunrise.

The conditions were not the best for photography as there were not many clouds in the sky, but I still managed to get some nice photos.

However, I did have a surprise: after the sun had risen and I was packing to go back home and have some nice Portuguese breakfast, I looked back and found this amazing reflection with the warm colours of the sun still low in the horizon.

Next time I go back to Portugal, I will certainly visit this place again!!

If you ever visit Lisbon, consider paying a visit about 45 km south for some similar photo opportunities!
